Although totally immersed in a terrible war that too often included bombing raids on the city of London, the Fourth Estate still took time to celebrate the one-hundredth anniversary of one of the finest satirical magazines in Britain: Punch.

“Since its earliest years Punch has been attacking the Prussian bully as he turned on Austria, Denmark and France in 1870 and again today… we hope the day will come when this century-old theme can be dropped.”
