This Collier’s Magazine article reported on the man who would be King, Edward VIII (and soon after that, the Duke of Windsor) and how he campaigned to erase the slums from urban Britain:

But that doesn’t bother the prince. Unperturbed, he continues to fraternize with his unennobled subjects and to defend their interests – hotly and sometimes profanely.”
