“Better Times” (formerly “The Wipers Times”, “The ‘New Church’ Times”, “The Kemmel Times” and “The Somme Times”) was a British Army Trench publication edited by Captain F. J. Roberts of the Sherwood Foresters (pictured below, and portrayed above by the actor Ben Chaplin in the 2013 TV production, “Wipers Times”). It was an uproariously funny magazine that even now, one hundred years later, is capable of making you laugh out loud. This column appeared in their last issue.
