Not too long after this jolly 1914 scene featuring Guillaume Apollinaire and an unidentified friend was filmed, he was off to the French Army recruiting station. While serving in the military during the First World War he was recuperating from wounds in a field hospital when he fell victim to the Spanish flu pandemic and died a few days short of the 1918 Armistice.
