There were many different new types of personnel the U.S. military had to train and deploy if they were to achieve victory against the Fascists. The Navy had to train sonar technicians, SEABEES, scuba divers and the crews needed for submarines and PT Boats. The Army trained paratroopers, bomber crews, radar techies, and the mountain troops of the Tenth Mountain Division:


“Their job is to scale and occupy strategic heights that command the mountain valleys or drive off an enemy who has seized those heights, after which masses of regular troops can operate safely in the valleys below.”
